Just a bunch of random stuff as I go through life. |

Back for another week in sunny Sunnyvale California. Working on some cool encoder stuff and getting to know the lay of the land.
I flew into SFO this time around because the price of the airfare was so much better. I'm thinking of not doing that again. I think this is only the second time I've actually left the airport and I remember why. Everything is so far away from everything else. They have a train that will take you right to your car though and that's pretty cool.

Just a real quick word of warning. if you are ever offered Shark cooked in blue berry sauce, no matter how good it sounds pass it up for whatever else is being served. Even if it's salad it will be better than shark in berry sauce.
The sauce is still pretty good but it does something to the shark that makes it the most bitter meat you have ever tasted. I guess if you like really bitter food you might like it or if you had a really bad cold and couldn't taste anything it would be alright. ;)

Well the first day is over and now working on the second. I'm in Sunnyvale Ca for the next week or two learning about the new products and how to configure them. I was also given a bunch of stuff that I need to figure out how to get home. ;)
Until next time........

Ah Aug 31st. I'm not sure if there is anyone still reading this but just in case you wanted to know....
It's my birthday today. I've topped the hill and now looks like I start the gradual slide down it. :)
Princess Dianna died today + several years and I've not heard a thing about it yet!!! Yeah!
I've left Level 3. It's just not the company I thought it was or used to be. There are a lot of good people there still though so if they can hold off being out sourced to India then Level 3 just might have a chance.
I'm starting a new job with Harmonic on Monday the 8th of Sept. Lots of travel and adventure. ;) Well travel at least. Depending on the adventure, well we'll see. They tell me there is a lot of travel in the States and some in Asia and South America. I like going to Asia. The people work hard and the Women are pretty. ;) Mostly though the culture is so different that there is always something to learn and new to do. The people are very nice too.

Great, more proof that the DHS is a complete waist and possibly a risk to the country. Phreaking or hacking the phone system has pretty much been impossible to do since the mid 80's. Once all that good cheap silicone started being used by the phone companies things got to hard to hack.
Not at the DHS and FEMA though. Someone hacked into their PBX and made $12,000.00 worth of phone calls to the middle East. You would have thought that the government caught it and stopped them. Nope it was the phone company who didn't believe that all the calls were made.

Ok this is one of the coolest things I've seen in a long while. It's amazing what you can do with video and a little spare time on a PC now days. Death star over SF.

This is the calculator I wish I had in High School actually Junior High since I was kind of a maths geek in High School. The web calculator that shows its work.
I'm not really sure what use this is but they pay you to run speed tests from your computer when you are not using it. I'm not sure about it because your upside bandwidth is always limited by your ISP and won't show them what they say they want to see. But you can make a few bucks running it.

Wall Arch Collapses. Not from anything especially just normal millions of years wear and tear. Although all the climbers little metal bits and pieces probably didn't help at all.

I've seen this done with sprinklers and a strobe light but this one works like a great big ink-jet printer.
