Awhile ago a friend and I were talking about digital pictures and mathematics. How there are a limited number of values each pixel could have 0-254 and also a finite number of pixels you would have to deal with. In a photo that is 320x320 for example there are only 102400 pixels to need values for.
So in theory and with a good fast computer, you should be able to create every picture ever taken or that could ever be taken. You could weed out the obvious patterns right away like all zeros and all ones. What would be the number of permutations of 255 numbers in a 320x320 grid? It's evidently a HUGHE number. None of the calculators I've been able to find on the internet can tell me anything other than the number is to big to display. :) That's a pretty big number if it's to big even with scientific notation to display. I want to find out though but I don't know the formula to plug into say bc in UNIX or mathematica to find out.
What would you think if you wrote such a program and as it's...

This is pretty neat. Some guy Rick Garlikov Tried an experiment in the Socratic Method by teaching a bunch of 3rd graders binary math. It only took 25 minutes for them all to get it and they talked about it the rest of the day. Pretty Cool. :)

This is such wonderful and glorious news!!!! Maybe my country isn't quite as screwed up as I thought but it sure has taken to long. Read the Impeachment of George W Bush written by Elizabeth Holtzman 4 time Congresswoman and Attorney in the January issue of The Nation.

This is really cool or hot if you like. A hydrogen powered fireplace that you fuel with water from your tap. For a minor investment of $50,000 you can have one in your living-room too. Or convert your existing fireplace for $35,000. Get it at Heatnglo.

So of course I need to share it with anyone else reading this. Here is a little sample: "I wanted to eat him, but I didn't want to kill him," Meiwes told the court. The worst part is he could be out of jail in 5 years.

Since there are some things I want to do today and none of them involve this computer I thought I would share a couple of quick and interesting things I've found today.
Nanorings. This sounds pretty sweet. They are created in such a way as not to interfere with each other so they can be packed really densely. Think about a hard drive the size of a quarter and able to store hundreds of movies. ;)
The second thing is resoundings. This is an artist's site that lets you listen to some of the soundscapes he has created. The reason it's posted with the nanorings is that while they are nice and soothing I found it almost impossible to be able to listen to them and understand the nanorings article at the same time. BTW they sound great if you have 5.1 surround sound on your computer. :)

GM Salmon might get the FDA's approval by 2008. I'm not to sure I would eat something like this. Plants are one thing but Fish are something else and since I moved to Portland I'm about sick of hearing about Salmon anyway. GM SalmonFad'sFD A'sFD-A'sFadsFed'sEdit...Ignore allAdd to dictionary
