Keeping up to date

Well So much for keeping things up to date.  ;)  I started 3 sites right before I got a new job.  I went from all the time in the world to no time for much of anything.  Oh well,  I'll just have to try harder.

Wind maps

This Wind Map is WAY WAY cool.

Why you should set your privacy settings on Facebook

Girls around me.  It only takes a little bit of time to go onto Facebook and foursquare to correctly set your privacy settings. Do it.

Another mile stone

Nothing big or anything but I got Live Writer to work with the new software.  This makes posting easier to do as I don’t have to actually log on to the site.  Yeah I’m lazy.  Winking smile

Hello from the new PHDAVIS.COM

Well I've made the jump.  Two actually.
  • I've changed my hosting provider from Brinkster to Dotnet-host. This does a few good things for me.
    • Lowers the cost from $280.00 to $103.00 a year.
    • Trades disk space for SQL Server space.  Much more important as everything is in the database.  I can actually have as many databases as I need not just one and the size of  the databases are unlimited instead of 50MB.  This is very helpful.
    • Up to 50 TLD's  (Top level Domains).  With Brinkster I had to sub-domain and then use a trick  of dotnetnuke to redirect every request for other domains.
    • No limit to e-mail addresses and I can control my spam filters at the server level.
  • I've changed the software for this site to .Net Forge.  It's very nice and easy to configure DNN could take some ideas from this software.  But there is a lot I've got to learn about it.

I'm still trying to figure out how to export all my old posts over to this new software and I need to get back to blogging more regularly so stay tuned.  Check out my other two sites:
